How Boulder Lane Collects and Uses its Customers' Data

The process used for customers to purchase from Boulder Lane describes what data are collected from Boulder Lane's customers and how they are collected and used.

How Boulder Lane Stores its Customers' Data

All the data provided to Boulder Lane will be stored on Boulder Lane's computing device on Boulder Lane's premises and on Boulder Lane's Proton account only. All the data will be stored with the proper encryption.

The data that Boulder Lane collects are limited to those required in order for Boulder Lane to operate, and in particular, to take and fulfil orders from its customers.

Boulder Lane does not share these data with any other person or organization.

Swiss law prohibits Proton, any representative of Proton – including its employees and officers – or anyone else, for that matter, from viewing or otherwise obtaining anything saved on Proton's servers. This, effectively, means that Boulder Lane using Proton services does not constitute Boulder Lane sharing its customers' information with Proton.

Boulder Lane does not sell any of its customers' data.

How Long Boulder Lane Retains its Customers' Data

Boulder Lane will delete all data collected from its customers during each calendar year ending 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) (CUT-5) December 31 on May 31 at 12:01 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (CUT-5) of the following year, providing the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has completed its assessment of Boulder Lane's previous calendar year's income tax return. If not, Boulder Lane will delete all data collected from its customers as soon as the CRA has completed its assessment of Boulder Lane's previous calendar year's income tax return.

How Boulder Lane's Customers May Affect the Data Boulder Lane Collects

Any and all of Boulder Lane's customers may, at any time:

  1. Request a copy of all data Boulder Lane has collected from them;
  2. Request any or all of the data Boulder Lane has collected from them be corrected, if the customers believe them to be wrong; and
  3. Request any or all of the data Boulder Lane has collected from them be deleted (i.e., enforce their "Right to be forgotten.")

Any of the above requests from customers must be made in writing and sent to Boulder Lane at info@boulderlane.me using the e-mail address used to purchase with PayPal.

What Boulder Lane Will Do in the Event of a Data Breach

Boulder Lane will:

  1. Report to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada any breaches of security safeguards involving personal information that pose a real risk of significant harm to Boulder Lane's customers;
  2. Directly notify affected Boulder Lane customers about those breaches, through Proton Mail, and as required by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; and
  3. Keep records of all of the above as required by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Boulder Lane's Refund Policy

All sales final. No returns, no exchanges.

Other Legal and Regulatory Requirements, and Other Concerns

Consumption Taxes

Consumption taxes are those paid by consumers and include any and all applicable sales taxes and value added taxes.

Sales Taxes

Boulder Lane is registered with the Government of Canada for the purposes of collecting any and all applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). Boulder Lane has an HST number issued to it by the Canada Revenue Agency for these purposes.

At this time, there is no provincial or territorial sales tax on books or e-books anywhere in Canada.

Quebec's Language Laws

Boulder Lane is compliant with Quebec's language laws, including Bill 96. Boulder Lane's ability to provide customer service – service à la clientèle – over the telephone continues to improve.

E-mail Marketing and Communications

At this time, Boulder Lane does not engage in any e-mail marketing practices.

Although Boulder Lane always welcomes communications from its customers, Boulder Lane does not anticipate any reason to contact its customers following the conclusion of its business with them.

No robots Any and all telephone calls made to Boulder Lane's telephone number – 877-987-0002 – which may be called toll-free from anywhere in Canada and the United States – will not be greeted by:

  1. A robot;
  2. A voice menu; or
  3. Any electronic communication other than a simple outgoing voice mail message which any person would have, and that is only if nobody from Boulder Lane is actually able to answer the phone as it rings.

If a caller is greeted with Boulder Lane's simple outgoing voice mail message, they are requested to please leave a message, and someone from Boulder Lane will call them back them pretty quickly. Please keep in mind that Boulder Lane is on Eastern Time (GMT-5) (CUT-5).

Prevalent Version

In the event of a dispute between interpretations of the English and French versions of Boulder Lane's Privacy and Other Policies, the English version will prevail.
